My name is Ivaylo Donchev  and I was born in 1989 in a small town called Sliven in my home country – Bulgaria. When I was 3 years old , thanks to my parents I was able to start skiing and since then I fell in love with sport in general. Throughout the years I have participated in many sports – skiing, climbing, snowboarding, skateboarding, go-karts and more. From all of these, skateboarding turned out to be one of my biggest passions since the age of 14 and little after that I also discovered photography and filmmaking.

At that age I didn’t have my own camera so I picked up the only one that I found at home – Kodak prostar. Being a skater I started taking photos of my friends while they were skating and I used one of my friends video camera to film them as well. Step by step I started to enjoy it a lot and at one point I knew that this was really something that I want to do in my life. I was lucky enough, because I met one of the photographers who was shooting skateboarding a lot by that time. She started teaching me more and more about photography – compositions, how to develop film, print etc.

When it was about time to go to university I chose to study something different and I graduated Master in Landscape architecture. However photography and filmmaking were always present in my life and I decided that I will dedicate my life to those things which I am most passionate about. I left my country and I went to The Netherlands, because I was accepted to study photography in The Royal Academy of Art, which helped me a lot to further develop my skills.

Now I am working as a freelancer and for the moment I am based in The Hague, Netherlands , but I am available to work and travel worldwide as well. I am always looking for ways to learn new things, to improve myself, my work and my skills.
